New Adventures

It’s been almost 3 years since I opened the London Assembly Boutique here in central Frankfurt and it’s with heartfelt thanks to my clientele and my team with which we close.

It’s been an incredible and successful venture and it is now time to move the boutique concept in a new direction. Over the past years, I have had the pleasure to meet, collaborate with and entertain so many fabulous Frankfurters. My goodness, haven’t we had fun! We’ve created meandering garden paths, re-imagined Alice in Wonderland, played host to ladies networking groups, walked several miles of catwalk, been filmed for The Hessenschau and drunk copious amounts of Weingut Petershof Secco!

2016-06-12 11.30.162016-06-11 15.20.182016-06-10 06.40.53

The London Assembly concept was all about bringing somthing different to Frankfurt as well as bringing people together and this has certainly been achieved. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work so closely with the tLA designers and to see their work so appreciated and enjoyed by my clientele.

A true entrepreneur never sits still and I am extremely proud of all that has been achieved and all that has occured within The London Assembly boutique. It is, however now time to move on to new adventures and begin a new direction both for the boutique and for myself. And so…in September, in time for London Fashion Week, I will be launching a fresh website for your online viewing pleasure. The site will explore the concept of style and will feature first-hand interviews with designers and style influencers, photoshoots, articles as well as private view invitations accompanied by a carefully edited collection of items for online purchase.

Both new project and additonal tLA adventures will continue to be shared via both The London Assembly website as well as via the tLA Newsletter, our facebook, twitter and instagram accounts. In addition enjoy a visual depiction of my personal fashion adventures via http://www.instagram.com/silberzahnstyle see you online soon!

Summer DRESSing

With summer starting to shine upon us, here’s one of my favourite new season tLAitems that your wardrobe has been crying out for.

“Catherine” by JDC London is the ideal dress to carry you through this summer’s social engagements…

Wedding Guest: add a pale blue silk or cashmere shawl, nude sky high heels and a delicate clutch.

Garden Party: add some simple wedges and a lightweight bolero shrug.

A Smart Brunch: needs a pair of cute kitten heels and a cashmere cardy. Perfect!

and don’t forget those sunglasses! Mine are by Dior.

Summer Florals are certainly nothing new but every ladies wardrobe requires at least one classic number, the essential piece for a light, breezy, feminine look. There is something about the Catherine dress that has all the elements of success. A wrap over neckline which flatters the bust line, the nipped in waist to enhance and the relaxed fit pleated skirt compliments the shapely fit of the top. Crafted from a soft washable floral jacquard this dress is perfect for multiple occasions.

2016-05-22 17.19.162016-06-03 21.59.02

The Catherine dress is currently on Sale reduced from 119€ to 89€ and available in sizes 36, 38 & 40.

Photos taken in various locations around the city of Würzburg, Germany.

The Summer Essential: Culottes

Culottes / Cropped Trousers …

Whatever you wish to call them, culottes or “a split skirt” are having a real fashion moment.

I recently travelled to London and attempted capsule packing, something which I am really really bad at, but these black corduroy culottes by ethical British brand Lowie proved the ideal travel companion for mutliple styling options. Currently on sale, you really do need to add these practical and stylish bottoms to your wardrobes!

  • Lowie 100% Cotton Corduroy Culottes Were 125€ now 85€ available in small, medium and large.

Why:

They flatter all figures:
“Culottes, otherwise known as cropped wide-leg trousers, suit all kinds of body shapes. Depending on the area of your figure that you want to accentuate (or detract from), wear them with either a loose or snug-fitting top.”

They’re versatile enough for work or a wedding:
“Culottes are a style investment that can be worn for most occasions. You could wear these corduroy culottes to a wedding with a dressy blouse, or even  to work styled with a white shirt.

They’ll save you time getting dressed:
“As a busy mum I find it’s best to keep it simple when planning outfits. Culottes can make a fashion statement even when worn with the most basic T-shirt and trainers.”

They’re at the height of fashion:
“I always aim to create a silhouette that feels relevant to the season when I put together my outfits. Start with a pair of culottes and your look will instantly feel cooler.”

Where: Available instore now!

HBA Networking Event: The Concept of Courage

When: Sandwiched between International Women’s Day and International Equal Pay Day, The London Assembly was very proud to play host to a Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) networking event.

Who: The HBA connects like minded professionals within the Healthcare industry, encouraging them to share their expertise and grown their leadership skills. Kathrin Schönborn-Sobolewski is vice president of global clinical operations at Merck KGaA in Darmstadt, Germany. With more than 25 years of global healthcare experience in project leadership, business development, strategic innovation, and global clinical operations. She is recognized as an inspiring leader with a proven track record of success. In 2015 she was honored as an HBA Luminary.

The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association was founded in the United States in 1977 and has grown since then to include more than 6,000 members. Because it is a solution-oriented, pragmatic network for learning and increasing management skills in particular, the HBA became popular quickly.

“Nobody would want the organization to be simply a place where people can gripe and complain,” says Schönborn-Sobolewski. “It’s meant to be a productive place that helps us move forward.”

Eight years ago the HBA expanded to Europe, and soon regional groups were established in cities including Milan, Paris, Basel, and London.

“Soon after that I said to myself, I shouldn’t have to travel across Europe in order to benefit from the network. It should also be possible to have meetings in the Rhine-Main region,”

Eventually it did become possible. Under her leadership, an HBA group consisting of women from various companies in and around Frankfurt is now active on a regular basis and these were the ladies gathered together for a inspiring networking event hosted by the London Assembly Boutique.

What: 35 ladies enjoyed Riesling Wine from local vineyard Weingut Petershof, alongside a selection of tasty nibbles including Schwarze Hesse Chutney created by Frankfurt’s own Genusswolke. Guests enjoyed presentations on the theme of courage in business by both myself and Cordula Goj, who entertained the networking ladies with an Italian Aria and an inflatable man! Alongside the opportunity to meet and find out more about the HBA, the ladies had the chance to browse the latest spring collections direct from the designer’s London showrooms. A striped dress designed by JDC London proved particularly popular and I hope that the science world will be very proud of its super stylish ladies marching ever closer to scientific break through, development and innovation alongside the equal pay they clearly deserve.

Courage in business and in life is the ability to strive forward and endeavour the unknown in spite of fear or apprehension. In order to achieve the unexpected, to break new ground and push oneself to experience and embrace new challenges, we must all find the courage within ourselves to move beyond our comfort zones. It is my belief that by sharing our stories, supporting our young people to be brave and by working together,  great things can be accomplished.

Hard work, perseverance and imagination are key and what a pleasure it was to discuss these matters with such a diverse and interesting group of ladies.

Cocorose London

I actually came across Cocorose when as a fashion student, I visited the trade shows that took place each season in London for  trend research, inspiration and proffessional interest. The team were really friendly and following the event I went out and treated myself to a rather jazzy leopard print pair. The fact that they were foldable, came in a pouch with a handy bag for my heels were a bonus on top of the fact they were just really cool and comfy. Many an early morning return home walk were rescued by my cocoroses!

  • These red suade and grey snakeskin print leather loafers are just too cool.

The team behind Cocorose are passionate about creating shoes with a remarkable difference. Thoughtfully designed and crafted for life on-the-go, the designer brand is renowned for their revolutionary concept of foldable shoes. Founded in 2007 by Janan Leo, this award-winning brand is stocked in beautiful stores around the world , regularly seen in the press and worn by influential celebrities and fashion bloggers. Cocorose hold collaborations with iconic British brands including The Royal Ballet and The British Academy Film Awards and they create limited edition ranges using Liberty Art Fabrics. As the world continues to move at an increasingly rapid pace, we require smart fashion that moves seamlessly with our multi-tasking, modern lifestyles. The Cocorose philosophy of ‘Modern Luxury’ combines design, comfort and function, ensuring their shoes are considerately designed for smart, on-the-go lifestyles.

I’m so pleased to have added Cocorose London to the boutiques portfolio and hope you love them too!

New Season, New Trends, Fresh 2016 Style

The transistion from winter into spring is in my mind the ideal time to get cosy at home and re-invent ones look. I always spend the first few weeks of the New Year, moving my apartment around and reassessing the contents of my wardrobe. This year the focus is mostly about attempting to maintain a stylish home while accommodating the safety of an extremely active 11 month old. In fact I’d say this sums up my personal style focus of 2016. How to stay me whilst being a hands on mum.

The catwalks are awash this coming season with a feminine yet versatile look. Think silk and lace lingerie for day wear, a touch of the metallic, off the shoulder numbers and wearing red like a protest. The winter trend of faux fur remains a cosy addition to your jumpers with shades of burgandy brightening into a rich red albeit softened by a rather lovely rose quartz. Handbags are turning white or quirky and a chunky heel means the ladies can keep dancing till early in the morning.

I always keep an eye on the trends when buying for the boutique but my focus always stays on quality, versitality and attention to detail. I love all the collections we hold but what are my hero pieces for the new season? Well so far…

  • Cocoa Cashmere Classic Crew Neck Jumper

The new Cocoa Cashmere collection has already arrived instore, a gorgeous duck egg blue and the softest of rose hues with lovely shell detail buttons. 100% Cashmere fabulousness! I’ll be wearing mine with my favourite skinny jeans by Saltspin an essential for every ladies wardrobe. New designers have been added to The London Assembly Mix and the Fox bag by Bell and Fox is already a firm favourite. I’ve wanted to add Cocorose London footwear for awhile and am so pleased with the styles we have instore and can’t wait to wear the White City trainers in a limited edition Liberty print called bamboo, and finally I’m so pleased that the faux fur trend was seen again at Miu Miu because this really is an easy way to add some luxe to your wardrobe and every mum needs that to remind herself she can be glam too!

The Iconic Liberty Print

Who: Liberty, probably London’s best loved and certainly its most recognizable department store, started life as a small half-shop on Regent Street in 1875. Its founder, Arthur Lasenby Liberty (1843 – 1917), opened the busness selling imported goods from the Far East, tapping into the then current fascination with all things oriental. "I absolutely love what Jo and Brian the designers behind Me and Thee do. Original prints which are edgy and cool. The quality of there garments are also suberb, this Harrier T-shirt has the print perfectly placed on the front silk panel."

What: ‘Take Flight’ is a bold collection of garments constructed from powerful hand illustrated prints. For this season they researched different species of birds and the movements they make to use as inspiration. The collection includes T-shirts, skirts, leggings, tracksuit bottoms and dresses.

We love the intricate details of birds wings and feathers. To make the collection less twee, we focused on enlarging the images and taking snippets of bird anatomy hoping to create dramatic prints.

  • A full rail of fabulousness!

Why: In the belief that many of us still love to enjoy the clothes we wear they are working hard to strive for quality and originality in today’s mass over produced throw away fashion society.

Something for the Weekend

Who: Amy and the mini Silberzahn herd (plus my favourite Weekend outfit)

Why: One of my favourite things about living in Frankfurt and Hessen is actually the fact that the shops are closed on a Sunday* and therefore I feel no obligation to work and so instead enjoy time with The H and Junior Silberzahn. We live just a stones throw from the main city centre and are blessed with multitudes of beautiful parks to enjoy on an autumnal afternoon. *In the UK almost all towns and cities have mainstream Sunday shopping.

What: Kate Moss, London Bus Red Coat by Marvin Browne, FairIsle Jumper by Lowie, Ankle Grazer Jeans by Saltspin, Dr Marten Boots (Just seen). All available items at The London Assembly Boutique

Where: Photoshoot took place in Nordend, Frankfurt am Main, Germany

Shaken not Stirred.

  1. Who: Bond, James Bond as played by, sadly for the last time, Mr Daniel Craig. Yes that’s right, in my humble opinion, the best Bond to date. Cool, cheeky, intelligent, not too good looking, if you know what I mean, but absolutely an alpha, hot blooded man. Don’t mess with this Bond not even for a second…awesome! Monica Belluci, whose role I found a little disappointing. I really wanted her to have a meatier role, but my she does look good in her lingerie! I foresee the sales of black basques to soar this Christmas! Léa Seydoux… excellent… absolutely beautiful, great on screen chemistry with Mr Bond and my goodness what a fabulous wardrobe (Well this is a fashion blog!)

What: Spectre has received some very mixed reviews but when a movie is so hotly anticipated that is simply inevitable. My guests and I, a rather international bunch of ladies; Italian, Canadian, Bulgarian, German and British, enjoyed a glass of prosecco or two at the boutique, before strolling through Frankfurt and on to the Metropolis Cinema. With tLA baggies of sweets clutched in our sweaty palms, we excitedly awaited Sam Smiths’ somewhat insipid theme tune “The Writings on the Wall”.to signal the start of Spectre. Incredible shots of Mexico City, some serious building demolition across the globe, daring helicopter stunts, the essential ridiculously cool car and for me, just the right amount of tongue in cheek British humour, ensured my guests and I gave the movie an unanimous double thumbs up.

A hommage to London and a hommage to Bond. Nicely done Sam Mendes, nicely done!

  • Léa looks like the cat who got the cream! “Every girl wants to be ina movie with Daniel Craig”

Why: If you’ve been following the Boutique on facebook or Twitter (aka #tLAFrankfurt) you’ll have seen that we’ve been running a James Bond themed competition or two over the past few weeks. 007 and all aspects of Ian Flemings’ popular spy movies are something of a British institution, and with my personal enthusiasm for the genre, I really couldn’t wait to see the newest Bond movie or too share the experience with some of my lovely clients. We have had many winners over the weeks but the luckiest by far were actualy two Angelas (plus friends) who won not only fabulous goody bags stuffed full of treats, but tickets to see Spectre last night (Thursday 5th November). Congratualations to them and all our winners, we look forward to welcoming you again in store soon.

When and where: Spectre has just been released in Germany and is showing now nationwide.

Saltspin Denim

Who: Saltspin Denim designed in London, adored by me, discovered during London Fashion Week.

Saltspin was created from a single mission:
For our jeans to be your favourite jeans.

brand-img1What: With over 20 years’ experience in fit and cut, the London-based design house has sourced the best European denim, zippers, rivets and trims from the fashion industry’s leading suppliers. Five years in the making, Saltspin jeans use fabrics from the top mills in Italy and Spain, and their debut collection has been carefully crafted to achieve the ultimate level of smoothness to enhance your shape, with just the right amount of stretch for that all-important comfort.

  • Lead Ankle Grazer Jeans. Delicate ankle zips add the perfect finishing touch to these super cool jeans.

Why: Saltspin’s mission is simple: for their jeans to be your favourite jeans. With a colour palette that’s been carefully chosen with you in mind and designed to transport you effortlessly through the seasons.

When: Instore now, another EXCLUSIVE to The London Assembly boutique across GERMANY

2 years and counting

Who: On the 12th September 2015 The London Assembly Boutique, the tLA team, friends, family, and clients, gathered together down a tLA interpereted Alice in Wonderland rabbit hole! Lewis Carrol’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland celebrates it’s 150 year anniversary this Month and the story has inspired and enchanted adults and children since it’s creation and this year it inspired us.

What: We decided to celebrate our 2nd Birthday with an Autumn fashion show which saw Alice explore her style evolution featuring some of the fabulous new designer collections we have in store. The team took their roles seriously,  Myself as the White Rabbit, Silvi as Alice, Josanne as the Red Queen, Vicky as The Mad Hatter and Maria as The Dormouse. Many thanks to Andrea of Andrea’s Ktchen for the beautiful cupcakes http://www.andreaskitchen.de

  • Our guests begin to gather!

Why: Because every opportunity to celebrate should be taken and we love to show off the gorgeous new collectons we have in store. This year I asked two very special clients and of course friends to model in the show, and my goodness Amada, Silvi and Ulrike really did a fantastic job! See below more images of the fun! Many thanks to David French of French Perspective Photography for the Images. http://www.frenchperspectivephotography.com

  • Amada wears a Marvin Browne Coat and a Helen Moore Faux Fur Hat

A tLA exclusive… Louminessence Lace Lingerie

Louisa Michel

Louisa Michel

Who: Louminessence was created by Louisa Michel, a rather lovely  young lady from Brighton. The label was created in 2014 following a personal desire for gorgeous lace underwear that not only looked good but was comfortable as well. The products are created by a small women-only lingerie team dedicated to keeping things bespoke and handmade and using exquisite floral lace sourced from one of the last remaining English manucturors.

What: The label specialises in delicate vintage-inspired longline bralettes, french knickers and intimates all hand-dyed in a range of soft hues.

Why: Designed by women for women, Louisa loves to create beautiful underwear that decorates the skin and celebrates the natural body.

Where: Handmade in Brighton on the south coast of England, Louminessence is yet another exclusive brand to The London Assembly Boutique outside of the UK!

I met Louisa several years ago and we immediately clicked as she helped me find a very cool outfit from one of my favourite vintage stores “Snoopers Attic”. Louisa is obsessed with the wonderful world of colour and loves nothing more than creating just the right shade of lace to flatter her growing fan base! I love her enthusiam and dedication to the creation of a beautiful product and am over the moon to add Louminessence to the tLA portfolio.

WHY: When I first moved to Frankfurt, I found the social opportunities to meet other like minded women rather limiting. Once I had created the boutique space, which I like to think of as a very Britishesq. living room / boutique, I realised I could regularly host my own events, featuring varied topics my team and I found interesting. We now enjoy welcoming our clientele to a great central Frankfurt location to socialize, shop and make new friends. These events have become so successful that our guests have quickly become part of the wider tLA family and with the German phrase; ‘klein aber fein’ in mind, we like to keep a RSVP limited guest list to ensure everyone can have the most enjoyable and relaxing tLA experience.

WHEN: We generally host daytime events on Tuesday afternoons and after work events on either Wednesdays or Thursdays. The boutique is also available to hire for private functions, such as ladies networking event’s and social gatherings of your own friendship groups. To keep up to date with our scheduled events programme please sign up to our newsletter and of course see the events section of the website.

WHERE: Although of course the majority of our events take place in our lovely boutique, the tLA team and I love heading out and exploring the Frankfurt area. We had a marvellous time at the stunning Rocco Forte Villa Kennedy Hotel co-hosting a Afternoon Tea and Fashion Presentation and frequently pop down the road to The Spa Steigenberger for some truly fabulous beauty events.

We have some really exciting plans in progress at the moment and the tLA team and I look forward to inviting you to join in the fun!

Bis Bald,

Amy

tLA is more than a boutique: Successful collaborations have been forged with local businesses: Over the past year, tLA have co-hosted a ‘Fashion Afternoon Tea’ at Villa Kennedy, beauty events in association with The Steigenberger Hotel ‘Frankfurter Hof’, varied networking events for Jones Lang LaSalle and the Frankfurt Women’s Mentoring Group as well as in-store wine tastings, chocolate tastings and workshops with Young Living Essential Oils.
Since March 2015, tLA have been co-hosting interactive children’s afternoons and ‘Mum and Baby Mornings’ with consultants from British brands, Barefoot Books, Usborne Children’s Books and Neal’s Yard Remedies Organic Skincare.

As Amy Silberzahn envisaged, The London Assembly is fast becoming a “destination boutique” known for quality, style and originality, where all sorts of exciting things are known to be occurring. With mny exciting events in the diary for Summer 2015, the events programme continues to go from strength to strength.

WHY:
Europe’s high-street fashion has become increasingly bland with little imagination and variation. In Frankfurt specifically, Amy saw a clear gap in the market for good quality garments from independent designers. The customer who is looking for original designs, attention to detail and an ethical ethos will love the tLA selection.

WHEN:
The tLA Boutique Concept has been in development since Amy successfully completed her dissertation following her BAhons Fashion Design and Marketing degree. The boutique in Frankfurt opened its doors on October 7th, 2013.

WHERE:
Central Frankfurt, next to Kaiserplatz and right next to Commerzbank Tower. The exact address is Kirchnerstrasse 6-8. You can get there via U-Bahn (Willy-Brandt-Platz) or by foot from Hauptwache (5 mins) or Hauptbahnhof (10 mins).
